Art to a T(ea) !

I woke up this morning to a package from Bath; I opened it to discover a signed teatowel of 81 artist self-portraits, courtesy of David Cobley who I featured recently in “David Cobley: disovering the man behind the portraits”.

Many thanks for the teatowel, David: it is now hanging on my wall!

David is a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, having painted HRH Princess Anne. On Monday, 20th June, a new portrait of a mystery scientist is to be unveiled at London’s National Portrait Gallery and I can now reveal that it is Sir Martin Evans. Sir Martin, with his two colleagues, Mario Capecchi and Oliver Smithies are famous for being awarded The Nobel Laureate in Physiology and Medicine 2007 “for their discoveries of principles for introducing specific gene modifications in mice by the use of embryonic stem cells.”
